At least eight people including political activists were killed in different areas of the city here on Friday, police and rescue sources said. Three bullet-riddled bodies stuffed in gunny bags were found from a rickshaw near Karachi Zoo falling in the limits of Garden police station.

Official at the police station said that police recovered bodies from rickshaw parked outside Karachi Zoo after receiving information from the area people. The bodies were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities. The identity of the victims could not be ascertained till filing of this report. A worker of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) was gunned down near Nishan-e-Haidar Chowk, Oragni Town, in the limits of Pakistan Bazaar police station. The deceased was identified as Nasir, son of Fareed, resident of the same area. Police said that unknown men intercepted Nasir near Nishan-e-Haider Chowk and killed him with multiple gun fires. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for autopsy. Sources said that deceased was an active worker of Unit 140 of MQM.

A man was gunned down in Janjal Goth in the limits of Sohrab Goth police station. The deceased was identified as Jhanziab, 50, son of Abdul Kareem. He was shot and killed by armed men riding on bike. The body was moved to ASH for medico legal formalities. He was resident of Gulshan-e- Maymar area.

In yet another incident, an MQM activist was killed by unknown armed men in Ibrahim villas, Malir falling in the limits of Al-Falah police station. He was identified as Safeer, son of Rafiq. He was resident of the same area. Police said that deceased was targeted by unknown armed men with indiscriminate gun fire outside his home killing him on the spot.

The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities. In addition to this a man was gunned down in Muzafarabad colony in the limits of Landhi police station. He was identified as Iqbal Zada, 35, son of Shirin Zada.

Police said that unknown armed men killed Iqbal when was returning back to his home after offering Friday prayer. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for post-mortem (JPMC).

Separately, a man was shot dead in Mianwali colony in the limits of Pirabad police station. Police said that armed motorcyclists shot and killed Sarmad Khan s/o Nadir Khan near his home. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem. Police suspected that Sarmad was killed due to personnel enmity.
